Semiconductors, electronics & AI

Chips, boards and modules where one parameter decides the list entry, and the licence your order may depend on.

For chips and electronics, the list entry often depends on one parameter: a radiation tolerance, a pin count, a performance threshold. The same part can be controlled in one configuration and free in another, and your customer will ask for the answer before they order.

We classify components, boards and modules, and take the licence application through when one is needed.

When we are called

  • A customer asks for your ECCN or EU code before paying
  • An FPGA, ASIC or module sits near a threshold and one parameter decides
  • A shipment to a restricted destination needs a licence, and the order depends on it
  • Your AI chip or compute product raises a performance question

Work we have done

  • Classification of a modem and an export-licence filing for an electronics supplier whose order depended on the licence.
  • Classification of a neuromorphic chip, and a note setting out who is responsible for what along its supply circuit, for a chip start-up.
  • A compliance audit (initial analysis) for an electronic-components maker.
